Let the first impression have weight

A business card is the one physical piece of your brand that passes from hand to hand. Letterpress is what makes it stay: it is read by the fingers before the eyes.

Two blank, thick-bodied cotton cards on a pale surface

Why letterpress

A card read by touch, not sight

In digital printing the ink sits on top of the sheet. In letterpress the plate is driven into it, leaving a permanent well in the surface. The person receiving the card feels the difference before they have read a word.

How well that impression reads depends entirely on the stock. On a standard 300 gsm board the bite stays shallow; on 600 gsm duplexed cotton it deepens and casts a shadow. That is why we recommend a duplexed body for almost every card project.

  • Body: 600, 750 or 900 gsm duplexed cotton
  • Bite depth: 0.3 – 0.6 mm, tuned to the artwork
  • Colour: 1–3 Pantone colours, mixed by hand
  • Finishing: Edge paint, rounded corners, numbering

Four details that make the card yours

Option

Duplexed Body

Two sheets laminated into a 600–900 gsm body. Choosing two different paper colours leaves a fine coloured line visible along the cut edge.

Edge Painting

Colour applied along all four cut edges after trimming. A dark edge against pale stock makes a card look built rather than merely printed.

Hot Foil

Your mark stamped in gold, silver, copper or a matte colour. On black and navy stock, where letterpress ink simply will not read, this is the only real answer.
