Guide

It all begins with paper

In letterpress the sheet is not a surface — it is half the technique. On the wrong stock even the best design stays flat.

Family 01

100% Cotton Paper

Made from cotton fibre rather than wood pulp. Its softness and bulk hold the deepest impression, and because it is acid-free it will not yellow with age. Around 80% of what we print sits in this family.

  • Weights300 / 600 / 900 gsm
  • ColoursNatural white, bright white, ecru
  • Best forCards, invitations
  • NoteAcid-free, archival

Family 02

Textured & Laid Papers

Papers with a pronounced surface. The texture softens the edges of the impression slightly and gives an older, hand-made character. Excellent with fine serif faces, less forgiving at very small sizes.

  • Weights250 – 600 gsm
  • TextureLinen, laid, handmade
  • Best forLetterheads, envelopes

Family 03

Coloured & Dark Papers

Charcoal, navy, deep green and oxblood bodies. Letterpress ink disappears into these grounds, so they are printed with hot foil or blind emboss instead. Duplexing two colours leaves a fine contrasting line along the edge.

  • Weights600 – 900 gsm duplexed
  • PrintingFoil or blind emboss

Family 04

Kraft & Recycled

Warm browns with visible fibre and a more everyday character. Used for labels, packaging tape and countryside wedding suites; against foil it produces an unexpectedly elegant contrast.

  • Weights250 – 600 gsm
  • ColoursNatural kraft, grey board
  • Best forLabels, packaging

Weight table

Which weight for which job?

120

Letterhead

It has to fold and take a pen. 120–160 gsm is the sweet spot for both writing and printing.

250

Menu, order of service

Stiff enough to stand up, light enough not to weigh the suite down.

400

Invitation card

The minimum for blind emboss, and where a letterpress bite starts to read properly.

600

Business card (duplexed)

Our standard recommendation: deep bite, real weight, ready for edge painting.

750

Luxury invitation

For hotels and formal weddings. Check envelope weight and postage before committing.

900

Showpiece card

Almost board thickness. Edge painting is at its most striking here.

Samples

Feel it before you decide

Paper cannot be chosen from a screen. We post a sample pack, printed with different weights and finishes, anywhere in Türkiye or abroad.

The pack holds four cotton weights, two textured papers and examples of edge painting and foil. When you place an order, the sample cost comes off the invoice.
