Process

No surprises — only proofs

Printing cannot be undone. So we tell you what happens at every stage, and the run never starts without your written approval.

Brief and quote

We agree on quantity, paper, colours, finishing and date. An itemised quote follows within 24 hours and stays valid for 30 days.

Design or file check

If you bring artwork we check it for print and report anything that needs fixing. If we design, two rounds of revisions are included; further rounds are charged hourly.

Plate making

A polymer or magnesium plate is made from the approved artwork and archived for 24 months for future reprints.

Press proof

A single proof is pressed on your chosen paper. Delivered by hand in Istanbul, couriered with detail photographs elsewhere. Nothing is set up until you approve it.

The run

Ink is mixed by hand, the bite is set, and sheets are fed one at a time. A control sheet is pulled every 50 impressions.

Finishing

Trimming, corner rounding, edge painting, wax sealing and numbering happen here. Hand processes add days — we account for them in the schedule.

Boxing and delivery

Work is wrapped in acid-free paper and boxed rigid. Domestic delivery takes 1–2 working days; for international orders we prepare the customs paperwork.

Artwork

If you are sending us files

Letterpress asks for a different file discipline than digital printing. The points below remove most pre-press revision rounds before they happen.

  • Format: Vector PDF or AI, with type converted to outlines
  • Colour: Each colour on its own layer, Pantone reference stated
  • Bleed: 3 mm on every edge, safe area 5 mm inside the trim
  • Line weight: Nothing finer than 0.25 pt
  • Type size: Do not go below 6 pt
  • Solids: Large flood areas print mottled in letterpress — best avoided
